A Month of Devotional Thought — Zeus, Day 2

For me, the answer to the question of how I first became aware of most of the Hellenic Theoi would be the same as the answer to how I first became aware of Zeus. I grew up with the stories of the Hellenic Theoi as part of my cultural heritage, and as such, I really have difficulty as a 50-year old woman remembering a time when I was NOT aware of Zeus in some way or another.

Originally, as a child, I wasn’t aware of Zeus as a Theos that was still worshiped in today’s world, but as I entered into my twenties and thirties, that did change — mainly due to my moving away from the Orthodox Christianity I was raised with. So, for me, this is likely different than the stories that others in the Hellenic community would have, AND I HOPE, it will be different for our children.
