Poseidon’s “immediate” family is the topic for today. First, there are his siblings: Hestia, Haides, Demeter, Hera, and Zeus. After that, are his nieces and nephews among the Olympian Theoi. These are Athena, Apollon, Artemis, Ares, Hephaestus, Hermes, and Dionysus. Also included in this list of relations is Persephone, who is the daughter of Demeter, but not included in the list of Olympians as she is the wife of Haides — and Queen of the Underworld.
Poseidon is married to Amphitrite, daughter of Nereus. He has three children by her — Triton, Rhode, and Benthesikyme (Deep-Waves). He also has various children by mortals who were among the heros of Classical Mythology. Tomorrow will be about Poseidon’s other connections among the Theoi of Hellas and other Pantheons
