A Month of Devotional Thought — Haides, Entry 28

This was an entry that was delayed partly because I was trying to find an appropriate piece of art to illustrate the theme of this entry — what I consider to be the worst misconception that people have about Haides.

I couldn’t find one that was not utterly blasphemous in my opinion. And this is because the worst misconception that people have about Haides is that he has become equated with the Christian Devil. Haides is by no means a figure of evil and it is this misconception that is being spread by most popular culture representations of him. Even in the Disney movie “Hercules” the depiction is horrible in both the visual representation and in the way he is the villain of the piece. (Haides is the worst part of that movie for me). In the Percy Jackson movie, Haides is literally depicted as looking like a demon, but is not the ultimate villain of the piece.
