Today is devoted to a basic introduction of Haides. When the Titan Lord Khronos was deposed by his sons, they drew lots for what realm would be theirs. The Underworld fell to Haides. This has led to many misconceptions about this deity which I will be discussing later this month. It has also made many people afraid of him. Personally, I see him as being very similar to his sister Hestia in many ways.
Some of his epithets will make clear why I say this. He is the lord of the Underworld, he is NOT Death himself. Many people fail to make this distinction. And, I would posit, that he is probably the least misogynistic of the Sons of Khronos — everyone is equally welcome in his realm.
In the coming days, I will be writing a lot more about him. Stay tuned.
You mean “Kronos” (Κρόνος), not “Chronos” (Χρόνος). Chronos is Time.

There are some sources who conflate the two. However, your point is well put and important to consider

The tendency to conflate the two is late, and is done with full awareness that the two are different, which is why these authors do it, what makes the identification interesting. But it’s a kind of philosophical game to conflate them, there is no question that they are quite different from the ground up, there’s no etymology that would link them historically.
