A Devotion and Challenge

Yesterday, I went to donate platelets and plasma at my local blood bank. I used this as a devotion to Asclepius and Apollo because of their roles as Healer Gods in the Hellenic pantheon. These are the basic criteria that my blood bank uses — Blood Donation Eligibility . It is especially important since less that 10% of the eligible population donates blood.

As Hellenic Polytheists we should be displaying Kharis to our fellow humans. No matter political affiliation, donating blood or similar actions such as donating time to charities like Habitat for Humanity or our local Food Bank/Soup Kitchen is something we can do even if we cannot donate money or goods to those charities. Especially in these times when tensions between people are high, it is our calling to be part of a solution instead of part of a problem.
