Today’s topic is a quote, poem or other piece of literature that brings Hera to mind for me. The one that I am using is one that goes back to my childhood and was on a hanging in my parents’ home for many years.
“To one who bears the sweetest name
and adds luster to the same,
Long life to her for there is no other
Who takes the place of my dear mother”
If Zeus can be called the Father of Gods and Men, in her own way Hera stands as mother not only to her own children, but to Zeus’ other children — and even mortals. She is the strong pillar that all of us can lean on and call on. As Queen of the Olympians, she is also the one that women can call upon especially as she has experienced many, if not all, of the things that we encounter in our lives.
