Chione

Chione, or snow,  was the daughter of the North Wind — Boreas — and I am being reminded of that relationship today because of an area of cold weather stretching down across the United States along with snow in the area in which I live.

This makes me feel that I need to work on something that would honor them, but especially her in asking that both Chione and Boreas be kind to the children of mankind. I know that we need her doing her dance on her father’s breath, but I also know that although she is a beautiful goddess she is also a deadly one if not respected. I think this is part of why Chione was an antagonist in one of the two five-book series by Rick Riordan that featured Percy Jackson prominently.

It is interesting to note that the reason she became an antagonist to the heros of the series was that she was not getting proper respect from the mortals who were aware of the Greek and Roman Gods still being in existence. It is because of this that I think that it behooves us to pay her proper cultus if we live in an area where she visits. It is never a good idea to snub a goddess.
