Why tradition matters even while we defy parts of it

Both of these pictures are important to me in regards to tradition. One is of my father, who was a Greek Orthodox priest. The other is of my daughter, who I am raising as a child of the Hellenic Gods. While the first one is an indication of where I came from, the second is who I am trying to foster an understanding of tradition for.

Traditions are important not just in worship, but also in life. It is how we establish a foundation for everything else. It is the foundation that I hope to establish for her the way my father did for me.
