The need for Persephone’s descent

Today is the 6th day of the Greater Eleusinian Mysteries by the calendars that I go by. And part of this Mystery has to do with dying and being reborn. This leads to the reason for Persephone’s annual descent. Plato, in his dialogue Phaedo discusses the immortality of the soul and the afterlife. And it is said that the initiates of the Mysteries are judged by Persephone instead of the regular judges, although it is my feeling that She holds the initiates to a higher standard than she would a regular person were she to judge them.

This is part of what this Mystery means to me. Part of it is something that cannot be discussed, not just because it would be forbidden in ancient times but because the mysteries were divided into parts that were shown, some were spoken and some that were only able to be experienced. It is this experiential part that makes the Mysteries the thing that they are.

Yesterday, I spent much of the day in meditation. And the results of the meditation are in the category of things only able to be experienced. I will be spending a lot of today working with that meditation and continuing the inward journey that was started yesterday. All I can say is that things will not be quite the same for me in the future although I have received confirmation that I am on the right path for my growth at this time.

The Mysteries do not end today and there will be more tomorrow on this journey.
